Pam and Barbara weren’t too impressed when they discovered that I had taken a week annual leave in the same week of my 40-ish birthday. I knew that they were up to something and I thought that I could run away from them by taking a week leave!

I should have known better. Everything seemed sweet when I arrived back at the office in the morning, after my week holiday. However that didn’t last very long.

When I arrived back from a meeting around lunch time on that same Monday I knew immediately that I should have stayed away.

I was “dragged” into the room where the table was set for a shared lunch. Once in the room Barbara, Pam and Shirley put on a show dressed as three Dutch girls, with self made wooden shoes and farmer’s hats.

You have to know that those ladies are frequent visitors to the Op Shop and used this occasion to buy everything that they could find that would relate to me turning 40! You can’t even imagine what they came up with! It didn’t even fit in the boot of my car.

However, I did have a lot of fun and had a lot of laughter and I really appreciated the fact that they organized a birthday party and got everybody involved. The other staff members are warned!
